This slogan “Love never ceases” has marked the work of MSI for almost 25 years now. Quoted from 1 Corinthians 13:8, this was the truth that motivated hundreds of individuals over the years to serve in China and touch the lives of those in need. While China continues to modernise and grow in economic and political strength, the need for this unceasing love has not diminished.
In this issue of the MSI bulletin, we are excited to introduce some friends who have found new ways to touch lives with His unceasing love. Through businesses or social enterprises that serve those with special needs, left behind or migrant children or those looking for additional training, our friends have been able to demonstrate that:
“Love is patient, love is kind, it does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonour others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.” (1 Corinthians 13:4-7)
As China becomes one of the world’s leading countries, the space for non-profit and charitable works is narrowing. However, the hearts of its people are still open to the sincere love of those who care to live and work in their midst. May the examples and stories of these friends challenge you to consider how you might continue to share this “love that never ceases” with our Chinese neighbours.
